Review of my visit to the NYC J Crew Stores

It was music to my ears when my son told me he wanted to visit Fordham College - what did that mean to me? NYC shopping and more importantly, J Crew!!! Of course, I quickly planned the trip so we would arrive in NYC on a Saturday morning with a visit to Fordham on Monday morning. "How sad that they don't do visits on a Saturday, honey, but we'll just hang in the city until Monday morning." After the requisite Statue of Liberty, ground zero, and a few other must sees, it was off to J Crew land. First stop Prince Street. Loved this store. Love, love. And didn't realize yet because it was my first stop, but this is hands down my favorite NYC J Crew store. They actually had more collection merchandise than the Collection Store on Madison. Seriously.
The store manager randomly introduced himself to me after I inquired about a certain sweater.
Next - off to Madison Ave store in the 300 block. Okay, nothing great. Would skip it. Decided that I would walk to the collection store from there. A good while later I arrived at the store that I've been dreaming about. Honestly, I'm not sure I saw a collection piece of J Crew. I'm not kidding. Store is lovely and the SA's were friendly - but where were all of the collection pieces that I look at every morning over coffee and dreamed about touching and trying on? Cab to Columbus Circle. This store, as well as the Rockefeller Center store were almost exactly like my mall store. Okay, nothing great. But I'm telling you, that Prince Street store is to DIE for.
Can't wait to get back. And in the meantime, the highland cable cardigan was no where to be found in NYC. SA, after SA, told me it sold out quickly. Which of course made me want it even more. Upon returning home, of course, I had to call my ps and order it immediately. Will post a review on it tomorrow. It's yummy!!!!
